Former Lake Park-Audubon coaches sentenced
ST. CLOUD, Minn. - Two former Lake Park-Audubon girls' basketball coaches who were convicted of inappropriately touching 17-year-old players were sentenced this morning in Stearns County District Court to 10 days in jail.
Former head coach Andrew Patrick Schwan and former assistant coach Darrin Alan Myhre were given credit for already having served one day.
Schwan elected to start serving his remaining nine days immediately, while Myhre told the court he would report to jail later today.
In both cases, 355 days in jail were stayed and both men were given two years of probation.
They were also fined $1,000 each and will be required to register as predatory offenders.
The two men earlier pleaded guilty to one count each of misconduct of a public officer or employee.
According to court records, the coaches gave alcohol to two of their players and each girl was fondled by one of the coaches in December 2009 at a hotel in St. Cloud, where the team was staying while playing in a tournament in Upsala.
