Flotillas planned for the 4th of July weekend
Area lake associations have planned flotillas for the weekend that will give participants an opportunity to celebrate Independence Day in a unique way.
Two Inlets Lake Association will have a boat parade at 1 p.m. Friday, July 3 starting at the DNR Launch. Participants are asked to arrive at 12:45 p.m. For more information, contact Glen Wolters at 732-5278.
Long Lake's annual Fourth of July flotilla and dock decorations will begin at 9:30 a.m. with the flotilla starting at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 4. Boats should remain decorated until 1 p.m. to allow time for judging. Boat owners need to have their phone numbers prominently displayed for the judges to see. Docks will be judged on both the north and south ends of the lake. In case of inclement weather, the flotilla will be canceled. When judging is complete, notify Marlene Stock at 732-7422 of the winners.
Little Sand Lake
Little Sand Lake annual boat parade will begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 4 starting at Zorbaz.
The Potato Lake boat parade will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 4 at the west end sandbar.
Lake Belle Taine
Lake Belle Taine will hold its annual boat parade at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 4. The parade will begin at the west bay entrance into the big lake. All boats are welcome decorated or not. Lemonade and donuts will be served at the Nevis public beach at the end of the parade.
Mantrap Lake will have a boat parade at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 4. All boats and pontoons are welcome. Meet at Hoodoo Bay and tour the lake, then enjoy a potluck picnic after the parade at the public access picnic ground. Bring a dish to share. Emma, Stocking, Bottle Lakes
The Emma, Stocking, Bottle Lakes Association will hold its annual boat parade at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 4. The parade will begin at the dock of Bill Jones on Upper Bottle Lake. All boats are welcome decorated or not.
Big Sand Lake
Big Sand Lake will have a boat parade at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 4 meeting at the inlet.
5th, 6th, 7th Crow Wing
The 5th, 6th and 7th Crow Wing Lake Association will have a flotilla starting at noon at Old Ky-e-ty Resort. All boats must be decorated and arrive by 11:30 a.m. for judging. The association will also host a picnic following the parade at Old Ky-e-ty Resort. Bring a dessert to pass and your own lawn chair.
Pickerel Lake will have the fourth annual flotilla starting at noon Saturday, July 4 at the public access.
8th and 9th Crow Wing
The 8th and 9th Crow Wing Lake Association will hold their annual boat parade starting at 1 p.m. Sunday, July 5. Line up and registration will take place between In-We-Go and Starlight Bay resorts on 8th Crow Wing Lake. Boats will be judged on patriotic, visual and acoustic creativity. Judges will be located at In-We-Go and Camp Liberty resorts and on the northeast end of the lake. The parade will be canceled in case of inclement weather.
