Florence E. Sunram, 83, of Frazee, formerly of Ponsford, died Friday, March 13, 2009 at Frazee Care Center, Frazee.
She was born Sept. 14, 1925 in rural Osage to Valentine and Jannette (Nugent) Becker. She grew up and attended country school at the Becker School in rural Osage. She later attended school in Park Rapids, graduating from Park Rapids High School. She then attended Bemidji State Teacher's College, where she received a teaching certificate. She taught school at the Potato Lake School near Park Rapids, and later at the Round Lake School and the Bongo School near Ponsford.
On Sept. 30, 1947 she married Leonard Sunram in rural Frazee. They farmed for many years in rural Ponsford. She was a resident at Vergas Assisted Living in Vergas for a short while before moving to the Frazee Care Center in May of 2008.
She is survived by two daughters: Karen (Dennis) Kramer, of Zimmerman, and Noreen (Rod) Walsh, of Neenah, Wis.; four sons: Les, of Pelican Rapids, Lorenz, of Ponsford, Glenn, of Osage, and Leonard Jr., of Detroit Lakes; 10 grandchildren; eight great- grandchildren; a brother, Vernon Becker, of Osage; a sister-in-law, Alice, of Ponsford; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1981; five brothers; a sister; a mother-in-law, Elsa; and a daughter-in-law, Arla.
Funeral service: Monday, March 16 at Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Snellman, with Pastor W.F. Neumann officiating.
Interment: Mount Calvary Cemetery, Ponsford, Minnesota.
Casket bearers: Lavon Stengrim, Krystal and Brent Kramer, Myron, Gabriel and Garrett Sunram, and Jennifer and Adam Walsh.
