Email

Five people were taken to the hospital after a head-on crash Saturday on Highway 371, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.

At 12:01 p.m., Samuel Shepard, 65, of Lebanon, Ind., pulled to the shoulder of the road to secure a life jacket in the boat he was pulling. That's when a vehicle driven by Marla Brown, 33, of Cass Lake, crossed over the centerline, through the opposite lane of traffic and struck Shepard's vehicle head-on, according to the State Patrol.
