Felony assault charge for Ottertail woman who allegedly threatened daughter with gun
An Ottertail woman accused of pulling a gun on her daughter is facing a felony assault charge.
Desiree Navin, 51, was charged in Otter Tail County Court with second-degree assault with a dangerous weapon.
According to the court complaint, Navin's daughter called 911 to report that her mother had threatened her with a gun. When deputies arrived at the house, they spoke with the daughter, who said she was cleaning in an upstairs room when she and her mother began to fight. After throwing a bucket, Navin allegedly took a gun out and began threatening her daughter.
When deputies questioned Navin about the incident, she first said the only gun she had was located in a vehicle parked outside. Deputies checked the vehicle, where they did find a weapon. However, Navin then admitted there was a shotgun in her bedroom. The daughter identified the shotgun as the one used during the threat.
Navin was arrested at the scene. She is scheduled to face a jury March 20.
Initial reports on this incident from the Otter Tail County Sheriff's Office indicated the altercation took place in Henning.
