Fargo man pleads guilty to pulling gun on cabbie
A Fargo man was ordered to serve 15 days after pleading guilty Monday to pointing a gun at a cab driver.
Paul William Ahonen, 41, was originally charged in Cass County District Court with felony terrorizing, but entered the plea to a reduced charge of misdemeanor menacing.
Ahonen was arrested after a cab driver told police a man pointed a gun at him about 1 a.m. Jan. 12. Ahonen gave police multiple variations of what happened and said he pulled his gun twice to protect himself, court documents state.
East Central Judicial District Judge Steven Marquart sentenced Ahonen to one year, first to serve 15 days, with the remaining time suspended for one year of supervised probation.
Ahonen may serve the time through electronic home monitoring. He must also pay $325 in fines and fees, complete a chemical dependency evaluation and forfeit the gun.
