Avid bikers have three route options in the annual Headwaters 100 Bicycle Ride.

The Headwaters 100 Bicycle Ride will be held September 24, 2011.

There will be a 100-, 75- and 45-mile ride throughout local areas, starting at Itasca State Park. The 100-mile ride will go past the Mississippi headwaters and follow the Wilderness Drive throughout the park. The ride will then go through Lake George, Emmaville, Dorset and Nevis, and will then take the Heartland Trail to the finish at the Park Rapids Century School.

The 75-mile ride will go throughout Itasca State Park on Wilderness Drive, and follow the path toward the Park Rapids Century School by way of Lake George, Emmaville and Dorset. The 75 mile ride will end on the Heartland Trail.

The 45-mile ride will pass through Emmaville and Nevis, and end at the Century School in Park Rapids.

All leisurely bikers are encouraged to start early. Refreshments are included with registration, and food and beverage stops are located along the way.

Facilities will also be available at food stops as well as at the finish line.
