Park Rapids Minnesota PO Box 111 56470

A floral shop has sprouted in a car wash bay.

Deb Fairchild has relocated her business, Deb's Floral Boutique, to her husband's commercial location, Paul's Quick Change at 105 Grove Ave. North.

The rudimentary garage has been transformed to hold an enchanting selection of silk sprays and wreaths, plants, gourmet and candy baskets, candles, lotions and unique gifts.

Fairchild, who answers the phone seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., will create and deliver decorative fresh flower bouquets for weddings, funerals and special occasions throughout the year.

Mother's Day, she said, is by far the busiest holiday of the year.

Fairchild brings 20 years' experience to her role as florist, having started at Woodland Floral with Pat Anderson in 1989. "She taught me everything I know."

Fairchild propagated florist businesses in several locations throughout her career, opening on Highway 34 in 1992 and moving "uptown" in 1998, the building selling the same year. She opened another shop on Main and in September 2008, moved to the current location.

"It's convenient," she said of the move. "Paul and I work well together."

She will deliver within a 30-mile radius or wire flowers anywhere in the world via Teleflora and 1-800-Flowers.

Ordering may be done online at theflowerboutiqueandtreasures.com.

"I'm ready with suggestions," she said of advice on arrangements.

"This is a great business because of the people you come to know," she said.
