,81, of North Palm Beach, Fla., passed on New Year's morning after a long and valiant fight.

David was born Nov. 3, 1932, in New Jersey where he attended Rutgers University. Before retirement he was the CEO of Buist, Inc., an industrial and mechanical engineering firm founded by his grandfather, David, his father, Ronald and uncle, Walter, which is still active with headquarters in New Brunswick, N.J.

Over the past 20 years together, he and his wife Suzanne became avid world travelers and talented, dedicated nature photographer (Sue) and videographer (David). Together they portrayed the wild fauna and flora of Antarctica, the Artic, Africa, China, Alaska, the Galapagos, the Amazon, Scotland and, of course, the United States and Canada.

David and Sue were summer residents of Many Point Lake by Ponsford, where their cabin has been in the family for numerous generations. Six years ago, they moved into Park Rapids.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Suzanne Ellis Buist; brothers, Tom (Suzi) and Scott (Candi), stepchildren, Margo DiIeso and James David; niece, Ashley; and nephews, David, Jake, Tom and Kelly.

The family would like to thank David's caregiver, Jean for his devotion over the past year. They would also like to thank the extraordinarily dedicated team of doctors, ICU and surgical nurses and the staff of Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center led by Dr. Puri, who fought so hard for David.

The family has planned private services and would ask that in lieu of flowers, donations be made in David's memory to: The American Bear Association, P.O. Box 77, Orr, MN 55771, 218-757-0172.
