Erwin Wothe

Erwin F. Wothe, 101, of Frazee, died Tuesday Nov. 4, 2008 at the Frazee Care Center in Frazee.

Erwin Frank Wothe was born to William and Ida (Rosenow) Wothe on Jan. 29, 1907 in Height of Land Township, rural Frazee. He grew up and attended school in the Height of Land School District. On Oct. 22, 1930 he married Elsie I. Tessman. They made their home in the Height of Land area, where he farmed and also worked for the W.P.A., building roads. He retired in 1964. Erwin had been a resident of the Frazee Care Center since April 1995.

Erwin helped build St. John's Lutheran Church. He was a charter member and also served as an elder. He also served on the Height of Land School Board for several years. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Surviving Erwin are his daughter, LaVerne Olson of Frazee; son, Gordon Lee (Marie) Wothe of Salmon, Idaho; five grandchildren' eight great grandchildren; and six great-great grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; wife Elsie (1997); three brothers and one sister.

Funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 7, St. John's Lutheran Church, Height of Land, rural Frazee, with the Rev. Richard Boehnke officiating.

Casket bearers were Lee Hanson, Jerry Mott, Arnold Blauert, Jay Hanson, Wayne Tinjum and Leonard Hammer. Burial was at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery, rural Frazee.
