Edwin Hilden

Edwin "Ed" William Hilden, 70, of Osage, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at Emmanuel Community Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.

Edwin was born Aug. 4, 1942 on the family farm in Green Valley Township, Becker County, the son of William Adam and Amelia Josephine (Karvonen) Hilden. He grew up on the family farm and attended the local country grade school and also Menahga School.

He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1967, he served 13 months in Vietnam as a mechanic. He was honorably discharged in 1969.

He was united in mar-riage to Lynette L. Anderson Sept. 19, 1970 in Winthrop. For two years they resided in Pembina, N.D. where they both worked as truck drivers. They moved back to this area and eventually he was able to purchase the family farm where he was born.

From a very early age, Ed knew what he wanted to work as a truck driver. For 28 years he worked as a truck driver for Menahga Concrete. He retired in 2006.

He enjoyed listening to country music. He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church at rural Menahga.

Ed was known for his dry sense of humor.

He is survived by his spouse, Lynette L. Hilden of Osage; daughter, Jacqueline (Lance) Schoeberl of Park Rapids; brother, Robert Hilden of Osage, Michael (Bea) Hilden of Park Rapids, Harry (Sue) Hilden of Detroit Lakes; sisters, Debbie (Gerald) Koskela of Frazee, Elaine Hilden of Detroit Lakes and Lucy Olson of Vacaville, Calif.; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Amelia Hilden; father and stepmother, Bill and Ruth Hilden; and brother, John Hilden.

Funeral service: 11 a.m. Monday, April 8 at Bethany Lutheran Church in rural Menahga. Pastor Steve Bruer will be the officiant.

Visitation: was held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday evening at the Cease Family Funeral Home of Park Rapids, and also one hour prior to the services at the church on Monday.

Interment: Bethany Lu-theran Cemetery, rural Menahga, later this spring.

Arrangements are being handled by the Cease Family Funeral Home of Park Rapids. Friends may leave online condolences at
