East Grand Forks man charged with murder after Park Rapids boy died from drug overdose
An 18-year-old East Grand Forks man has been charged with murder for allegedly supplying the drugs that lead to the June 15 death of Elijah Stai, 17, of Park Rapids.
Adam Taft Budge is scheduled to appear in Polk County Court Friday to face charges of third degree murder, second degree manslaughter and controlled substance in the third and fourth degree.
According to the criminal complaint, Polk County Sheriff's Office received a call at 1:30 a.m. June 13 from Budge's father, Richard Taft Budge II. He reported Stai was not breathing at his East Grand Forks residence, 417 20th St. N.W.
Stai was taken to Altru Hospital in Grand Forks where he was diagnosed with a severe brain injury after going into cardiac arrest.
