Driver arrested in rural Becker County accident that critically injured woman
A driver faces criminal charges in a one-car crash Thursday night in rural Becker County that left a Detroit Lakes woman in critical condition.
Shanty Washburn, a 37-year-old, was thrown from a pickup driven by Brett Allen Rounsville when the truck rolled over on a rural road at about 5:30 p.m., according to a news release from Becker County Sheriff Tim Gordon.
Washburn was taken by helicopter to a hospital in Fargo, where she is stable but critical, Gordon said in the news release.
Investigators think that alcohol and speeding were factors in the crash, and Gordon said charges are planned for Rounsville, a 40-year-old from Brooklyn Center, Minn.
Rounsville was treated for minor injuries before he was taken into custody. Neither Washburn nor Rounsville was wearing a seat belt.
