Donations can still be made for Park Rapids All Veterans Memorial
The Park Rapids All Veterans Memorial Interpretive and Educational Center construction is under way but more donations are needed to complete the project.
The All Veterans Memorial is located on Highway 71 south, next to the Park Rapids Lakes Area Chamber.
A groundbreaking for the center was held in May and the shell of the 2,300-square-foot building is up. Construction will stop for the winter.
The completed structure will cost an estimated $250,000 and will hold information on all the U.S. wars.
William Ryther, president of the All Veterans Memorial Committee, said the completed center will include stories from men and women who've served in the military will be shared.
The first phase of the project includes monuments honoring all veterans. The ground breaking for the first phase of the memorial was in 2002 and it was opened to the public in 2003.
Donations can be made to help complete the interpretive center. Contributions can be mailed to All Veterans Memorial, PO Box 569, Park Rapids, MN 56470.
