Donald "Donnie" F. Fischer, 60, of Park Rapids, died Monday, March 23, 2009 at his home.
He was born to Leo Mathew and Mary Ann (Beierman) Fischer on May 30, 1948 in Humphrey, Neb. He grew up and attended schools in Norfolk, Neb. He moved to Park Rapids in 1967 with his family.
He liked to be known as the "Collector" and there wasn't much he didn't collect.
He is survived by his mother, Mary Ann Fischer of Park Rapids, two brothers: Dave (Barb) of Laurel, Mont. and Dale (Marti) of Park Rapids, a sister, Diane (Joe) Christensen of Park Rapids, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leo.
Visitation: Sunday, March 29, from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel of Park Rapids, and also one hour before the services at the church on Monday.
Honorary casket bearers: Ted Haberer, Todd Nordquist, Jerry Fuller Sr., Percy Anderson, Bob Groenthal and Jerry Erdman Sr.
Active casket bearers: his nieces and nephews: Darla Poolet, Darren, Doug, Justin and Landon Fischer, Julie Westby, Joey Christensen and Ashley Eischens.
Mass of Christian Burial: 11:00 a.m., Monday, March 30, at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Park Rapids, with Father Thomas Friedl as the celebrant. Joy Horejsi will be the organist and St. Peter's Alleluia Choir will lead the congregational songs: "Here I Am Lord," "Let There Be Peace On Earth," "I Am The Bread Of Life" and "How Great Thou Art."
Interment: St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Cemetery in Park Rapids.
