DL man sentenced for selling marijuana
James Michael Gilbert, 19, of 207 Laura Ave., Apt. 203, Detroit Lakes has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony forth-degree controlled substance crime, sale.
An identical count was dropped in a plea agreement.
According to court records:
On Feb. 6 Gilbert sold $60 worth of marijuana to a confidential reliable informant working for the West Central Minnesota Drug Task Force.
A search warrant was executed at his home later that day and officers found a total of 58 grams of marijuana in clear plastic zip-top baggies in a large black duffel bag.
On Thursday, District Judge Joe Evans stayed imposition of sentence for 15 years and placed him on supervised probation for 15 years. He was ordered to serve 30 days in jail, with credit for two days served, and pay a $1,000 fine plus court fees.
He must get a chemical use assessment within three weeks and complete a cognitive skills class if so determined by his probation officer.
