DL man gets extra jail sentence for violating drug, theft probation
A Detroit Lakes man was reinstated on probation for a felony drug possession charge after it was revoked in Becker County District Court recently.
Dakota Joe Bosch, 20, of 10416 Co. Rd. 147, Detroit Lakes, was ordered to serve an additional 45 days in jail for the violation, then reinstated on supervised probation for up to five years.
Bosch was initially charged in connection with an Aug. 30, 2011, incident in rural Detroit Lakes.
According to the criminal complaint, law enforcement officers were dispatched to a residence on Becker County Highway 17 to investigate a report of "someone rummaging through vehicles."
Witnesses reported that the suspect was seen riding away on a bicycle. Bosch was sighted riding a bike a short distance away from the scene, and placed under arrest.
A grocery bag spotted near the suspect was discovered to contain several items that had been reported missing from the vehicles -- including some prescription bottles containing the drugs Gabapentin and Lorezepam, which did not belong to him.
He was given a stayed prison sentence on May 23, 2012, with conditions including probation and a 90-day jail sentence, as well as community service in lieu of a $1,160 fine.
On Jan. 17, he was found guilty of multiple probation violations, including two new traffic violations since his conviction.
