Disaster response meeting to be held in Menahga March 1
The City of Menahga will be hosting a disaster response informational meeting at the Menahga High School media center at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, March 1.
As the emergency management director and on behalf of the city leaders, Police Chief Scott Koennicke is inviting those who may be able to help during a disaster response to attend. Information will be provided and gathered that can be used in the city's main response plan in preparation for natural disasters or other large scale emergencies the community may encounter.
The meeting will be hosted by the police department, fire department, first responders and other city officials. Specific letters will be sent out to various businesses, groups or people that may play a key part in maintaining a successful response so they can be included in the discussion. Anyone who does not receive a letter but feels they may have valuable skills, tools or that can help in another capacity is encouraged to attend.
This meeting will cover what to expect, how the city will utilize volunteers, where command centers may be set up to meet and other matters to minimize the loss of property or life.
