Update: Missing 5-year-old from fatal Bemidji fire found alive

Dickinson, Girtz claim runner-up honors at Crookston

Karly Dickinson and Allie Girtz claimed runner-up honors at No. 2 doubles to lead the Park Rapids girls tennis team to fifth place at Saturday's Crookston Booster Tournament.

Christina Smith finished third at No. 2 singles, Kelsey Adolphson was fourth at No. 4 singles, Mary Kading and Alyssa Carlson were the consolation champs at No. 1 doubles, Katie Walsh and Lexi Burlingame were the consolation champs at No. 3 doubles, Julia Renner finished sixth at No. 1 singles, and Emily Klingenberg was seventh at No. 3 singles.

Park Rapids tallied 17 points in this eight-team tournament. Bemidji finished first with 31 points.

The Park Rapids volleyball team made its season debut at Friday's Albany tournament.

The Panthers went 0-4, dropping matches to Minnewaska (22-25, 27-25, 15-12), Rocori (25-14, 25-18), Maple Lake (25-13, 25-16) and Albany (23-25, 25-20, 16-14).

Megan Norby had 22 kills and 31 digs, Hannah Wolff had 15 kills, Hailey Lundin had 21 service points and 13 kills, Jenny Palm served eight aces and had 30 set assists, and Taylor Smythe had 21 set assists for the Panthers in the four tournament games.
