Detroit Lakes man dies after high-speed chase
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – Speeds reach 100 mph during a pursuit of a stolen vehicle early Friday resulted in a crash and the death of a 24-year-old Detroit Lakes man, the Becker County Sheriff’s Office said.
According to a written report issued by Sheriff Kelly Shannon:
The Pelican Rapids Police Department became involved in a chase early Friday involving a car that had been reported stolen out of Fergus Falls.
Pelican Rapids police lost sight of the vehicle, but the chase resumed when a Becker County deputy spotted the car near the intersection of County Road 22 and County Road 147.
As the deputy gave chase, the suspect car accelerated and then left the road, rolling several times.
The driver, identified by the Sheriff’s Office as Brandon Michael Boswell, was ejected from the vehicle and died at the scene, the report said.
