Defense delivers as Tigers end regular season with 14-0 victory over Cromwell

  Nevis’ defense held Cromwell to only 90 yards as the Tigers closed out the regular season with a 14-0 Great Northern Conference 9-man football victory Wednesday night.

     Michael Babler recovered a fumble in the end zone and Gavin Hitchcock ran in the conversion to give the Tigers an 8-0 lead in the first quarter.

     The Tigers sealed the win on Austin Becker’s 66-yard touchdown pass to Courtland Chase in the fourth quarter.

     Nevis compiled 388 yards in offense with Becker completing 11 of 16 passes for 211 yards and rushing 12 times for 78 yards. Chase caught seven passes for 138 yards, Gavin Becker had two catches for 50 yards, and Kiefer Miller rushed 12 times for 78 yards as the Tigers improved to 6-2.

     Hitchcock led the defense with seven solo tackles while Jordan Spenst had five solo tackles.

     Nevis received the No. 2 seed for the Section 6 playoffs and hosted No. 7 Remer Tuesday night. With a win, Nevis will host either No. 3 Waubun or No. 4 Park Christian Saturday.
