Deer strike leads to broadside collision on I-94; two Fargo residents to hospital, two Ottertail residents O
Two Fargo residents suffered serious injuries after their vehicle hit a deer, spun out, and was hit broadside by another vehicle on I-94 in Douglas County Saturday evening.
Clyde D. Staus, 61, and Julie K. Staus, 59, of Ottertail were westbound on I-94 in a 2006 Cadillac Escalade.
They hit a 2008 Mazda 3 broadside that had also been westbound on I-94, and had spun out after hitting a deer, according to the State Patrol. They were not injured, according to the State Patrol.
Two people in the Mazda suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries: The driver, Deeann F. Cavett, 48, and a passenger, Steven J. Cavett, 49, both of Fargo. Both were transported to Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria.
The Mazda was westbound on I-94 at milepost 83 when it struck a deer and spun out facing sideways in the lane of traffic. The Escalade struck the Mazda in the driver’s side door.
The accident occurred about 9 p.m. Saturday.
