Debora "Deb" Lee Olafson, 54, of Park Rapids, passed away suddenly Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 at Essentia Health in Fargo, N.D.

Debora Lee Baumann was born Aug. 24, 1959 in Jamestown, N.D. the daughter of Harold and Leila (Kitzman) Baumann.

She grew up and attended schools in several North Dakota communities, graduating from Minto, N.D. high school in 1977.

She was united in marriage to Kelly Schanilec July 21, 1978 in Fargo, N.D. They lived in Minto until 1982 when they moved to Park Rapids. While their three children were youngsters Deb was a stay-at- home mom. For many years she was employed as office manager at the County Market (SuperValu) Grocery Store.

She was united in marriage to Steve Olafson April 29, 2000 in Park Rapids.

She enjoyed cooking, gardening, and entertaining. She enjoyed vacations; whether it was traveling on trains; riding with Steve on his motorcycle, or their North Shore trips. Deb was a family person and loved taking care of her kids and grandkids.

She is survived by her husband, Steve Olafson of Park Rapids; children, Nicole (Kenny) Pearson of Burnsville, Brittney (Donny) Trumble of Park Rapids, Brandon (Jamie) Schanilec of Coon Rapids; five brothers, Mike, Ron, Stanley, Jerry and Rob; two sisters, Paulette, Laurie; nine grandchildren, Kyle, Kayla, Katrina, Seth, Ethan, Adam, Grace, Alex, Madelyn; stepchildren, Julie (Cliff) Frank of Bemidji and Justin Olafson, Park Rapids; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister-in-law Roberta.

Memorial service: 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 18 at Cease Family Funeral Home Chapel in Park Rapids. Pastor Richard Jorgensen is officiating.

Visitation: one hour prior to the services.
