ROLLER RINK OPENS WITH MANY SKATERS
Eldon and Richard James opened a roller skating rink in the 4-H club building at the fairgrounds last Friday evening, with a large crowd of enthusiastic skaters in attendance. They have put in a new hardwood floor and musical equipment, offering the best of entertainment for those who enjoy this type of amusement.

JUNE IN JANUARY
With special permission of the Weather Bureau, The Enterprise is able to announce that spring weather has prevailed during the past week in this locality. Temperatures have been unseasonal, reaching a high of 48 degrees in Wednesday, with nightly minimums of about 20 degrees above zero. Continuation of the mild weather is forecast.

FOREST FIRE DAMAGE GREAT DURING 1961
With the exception of 1948, there were more forest fires in Minnesota in 1961 that in any year during the past 20, the Conservation Department reported.
In summarizing the year's forest fire losses, fire suppression Chief Don Wilson said there were 1441 fires during the year which burned a total of 70,500 acres.
The largest fire during 1961 was on May 24 south of Baudette when a farmer decided to burn over a grassy area. Fanned by a 14-mph southwest wind the fire spread into surrounding marsh areas and consumed 4,640 acres of grass before being brought under control.

The biggest northern taken from are waters so far this season is this 22lb., 2oz., lunker which Doug Dickinson of Park Rapids, speared in Island Lake.
