DARLENE KRENZ

Darlene Jean Krenz, 84 years, 9 months and 10 days, died Tuesday afternoon, June 24, 2014 at Karlstad Healthcare Center in Karlstad.

Darlene Jean Krenz, the daughter of the late William and Elizabeth (Budde) Peabody, was born Sept. 14, 1929, at Park Rapids.

She attended school and grew to womanhood there, graduating from Park Rapids High School in 1948. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Johns Lutheran Church at Park Rapids.

On Aug. 21, 1949, Darlene was united in marriage to Glen Krenz at Park Rapids. They made their home there until January of 1956 when they moved to Thief River Falls. She was employed as a bookkeeper at the now Thrifty White Drug in Thief River Falls.

She was a long-time member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Thief River Falls and was active in Ladies Aide and other church affairs. She was also a member of the Sewing Club at Thief River Falls. She enjoyed cooking and baking. Darlene loved to knit and crochet, especially afghans for her family. Darlene had a heart of gold and especially enjoyed and dearly loved her grandkids.

In 2010, the couple moved to the Meadows Assisted Living in Karlstad and since October of 2011, Darlene has made her home at the Karlstad Healthcare Center.

She is survived by her husband, Glen; one daughter, Kay (Paul) Bostrom, of Karlstad; two grandchildren, Brock Bostrom, of Lake Bronson and Farrah (Paul) Billing, of Enderlin, N.D.; four great-grandchildren, Dalton, Perry, Amethyst and Ella; brother-in-law, Richard (Mary Ann) Krenz, of Winchester, Wis.; in addition to several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Darlene was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Paul; granddaughter, Andrea; two brothers, Chester and Jack; brother-in-law, Paul; and in-laws, Pansy and Clarence Krenz.

Service: was 10 a.m. Saturday, June 28 at First Lutheran Church in Karlstad.
