D-G-F serves way past Panthers in 8AA tournament

Dilworth-Glyndon-Felton served 17 aces to open the Section 8AA volleyball tournament with a 25-11, 25-7, 25-12 win over Park Rapids last Thursday night at Glyndon.

The Rebels, who were ranked No. 14 in this week's state Class AA poll, took control early in all three sets, opening up an 8-2 lead in Set 1, an 11-4 lead in Set 2 and a 12-2 lead in Set 3.

Mandy Mercil, who served four aces during a 12-0 run to end Set 2, finished with nine aces as D-G-F, the top seed in the north half of the section, improved to 22-5.

Marisa Rittgers had five kills, Ashley Domino had three kills and six digs, Anna Grimes had three kills and Lizzy Vaudrin had the lone service ace for the No. 8-seeded Panthers, who ended the season with an 8-23 overall record.
