Czech band to perform
Celebrating its 20th anniversary, the legendary Czech band Druha Trava returns to the United States for a month-long tour starting Thursday, Oct. 13 in Park Rapids. Park Rapids Community Education and the Park Rapids Area Arts Council are sponsoring Druha Trava in concert at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 13 at the Park Rapids Area High School auditorium. Tickets are available at the Community Education office and will be sold at the door, $6 for adults, $4 for senior citizens and students. Famed on both sides of the Atlantic for its "Czechgrass" fusion of acoustic, bluegrass, folk and rock, DT will launch "Shuttle to Bethlehem," the band's first-ever CD to feature mostly English-language versions of singer/songwriter/frontman Robert Krestan's iconic songs. The CD also includes newly recorded Czech versions of two of Bob Dylan songs from DT's "Dylanovky" CD, plus the instrumental "May Morning Dew" featuring Lubos Malina, as well as a fun, bluegrassy take on the Rolling Stones' classic "Jumping Jack Flash."
