Cycle driver dies in crash
A 22-year-old Alexandria man died in a motorcycle crash in south Alexandria Friday morning.
Dustin Lee Johnson, previously of Lake Lillian, was driving a 2004 Victory motorcycle shortly before 6:30 a.m. when he lost control on a curve on Minnesota Street in the industrial park area, according to the Alexandria Police Department.
The motorcycle left the road and struck a fire hydrant. Johnson was thrown off the cycle and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The police department is continuing to investigate the crash.
Johnson, the son of Jodi and Denise Johnson of Willmar, attended Alexandria Technical College for small engine and marine repair and graduated in 2008. He worked for D & D Repair, Steinbring Chevrolet and SunOpta Aseptic.
Johnson enjoyed four-wheeling, riding motorcycle, snowmobiling, hunting, camping, boating and going to stock car races. Family members describe him as a soft-hearted and caring "people person," who loved being with his friends and his son, Kaiden.
Funeral services are Thursday at 1 p.m. at United Lutheran Church in Lake Lillian. Visitation is Wednesday, from 4 to 8 p.m. at K-M Funeral home in Lake Lillian and continues for one our prior to the service.
