Hubbard County will no longer be offering curbside pickup for residents.

"It was really an economic decision," said Rick Zeller, recycling coordinator for the Developmental Achievement Center.

Residents are encouraged to use recycling sheds located throughout the county.

"It's something we've been talking about for a while and with the availability of the sheds we thought it made the most sense economically," Zeller said.

Curbside pickup had been offered in the county once a month and Zeller said people had been consistently setting out recyclables for pickup.

"It wasn't a matter of people not recycling," he said. "It just didn't make sense to send out a truck and a trailer for those pickups."

The sheds will have pickups several times a week. Residents are also encouraged to use the bins at the transfer station.

Commercial recycling pickup will still be done throughout the county.

What can be recycled in Hubbard County?

Recycling sheds in the county are open 24/7. Transfer station hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the winter. In the spring, the hours will change.
