Cub Foods said Tuesday that it is recalling peanut butter cookies made in its bakery departments because of potential salmonella contamination.

The move follows a nationwide recall issued by Peanut Corp. of America of Parnells Pride brand peanut butter, which is used in some Cub store bakeries.

The products were sold at Cub Foods stores in Minnesota and Iowa and are marked with a sell-by-date through and including Jan. 26.

The brand names include Cub Foods Peanut Butter Cookies, Cub Foods Peanut Butter Blossom Cookies and Cub Foods Iced Peanut Butter Cookies with Chocolate Icing.

The company says customers who bought the products can return them to Cub Foods for a full refund or exchange.

Cub Foods is a division of Eden Prairie-based Super-valu Co.
