Couple pleads guilty to sex behind a Grand Forks store
GRAND FORKS - A man and woman each pleaded guilty Thursday to public fornication after a police officer found the couple having sex Wednesday in the bushes behind Gordmans in Grand Forks.
Lt. Rahn Farder said an officer noticed suspicious activity in the bushes along the sidewalk on the 3500 block of South 34th Street about 1:30 p.m.
When the officer investigated, he found Orlando Brown, 30, East Grand Forks, and Marcie Peltier, 29, Grand Forks, appearing to be in the act of sexual intercourse.
Brown and Peltier each pleaded guilty to the charge in Grand Forks County District Court this afternoon. The offense is a Class A misdemeanor, punishable by up to one year's imprisonment.
District Judge Lawrence Jahnke ordered Peltier to serve 40 hours of community service.
Brown will have to complete 50 hours of community service because he has a more extensive criminal history than Peltier, Jahnke said.
