County board: no overpayment to employees
The Wadena County Board said in a press release this week that its investigation concluded county employees were not, as alleged, overpaid over the past six years in their health insurance benefits.
County commissioners said the investigation started in April 2011 probed whether extra contributions were made to employee health insurance benefits over and above what was negotiated with the union. The investigation included a review of payroll records, collective bargaining agreements and benefit policy statements.
In conclusion, the board said in a release, it was noted that some inadvertent errors had been made in calculating the contribution amounts but the net impact of those errors, during that time period, actually resulted in payments to employees less than the contracts called for of approximately $6,600.
