Cops confiscate stolen vehicles; thieves escape
By Sarah Smith
Two stolen vehicles kept Hubbard County deputies, Park Rapids police and State Patrol officers busy Monday night.
Both vehicles were seized and remain impounded at the Hubbard County Sheriff’s Department, which is processing the vehicles for evidence.
The drivers managed to get away even though officers swarmed to Fern Drive to seal off a perimeter just after 10:30 p.m. That frustrated Sheriff Cory Aukes and officers who worked hard to apprehend the suspects.
A busy dispatcher began calling residents to warn them officers were sweeping the area.
The vehicles confiscated are believed to have been stolen out of Beltrami County.
The incidents remain under investigation.
