Cooler weather brings sweeter corn to market via Carter's Red Wagon
Those in search of sweet corn late in the season can still find it at Carter's Red Wagon Farm Market.
"It's actually sweeter now that we've had some cooler weather. It's some of the best of the season," said Linda Carter, owner of the Red Wagon Farm Market.
Corn will be available until the first frost, she said.
Other crops are available now that the weather is cool. Winter squash is becoming ready, along with Indian corn, gourds, beets and green beans. Pumpkins are now available too.
"We're also starting our pumpkin parties at the market Sept. 25 and each Saturday through October," Carter said.
Many people are coming in this time of year to stock up on tomatoes and other end-of-the-season vegetables for canning, she said.
Carter's Red Wagon Farm Market is open Monday through Saturday through October.
