Connie L. Maickelson, 69, of Iron, died Thursday, March 20, 2014, at her residence surrounded by her family after a courageous fight with cancer.
Connie Lee Maickelson was born June 9, 1944 in Park Rapids to Vivian and Alice (Marsaa) Carpenter.
She graduated from Greenway-Coleraine. Connie worked for 17 years at the Virginia Hospital as a cook and 20 years at CrossRoads as a clerk.
She enjoyed spending time with her family, gardening, dirt track racing, and loved going to Fortune Bay Casino. She will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Connie is survived by her husband of 52 years, Donald Maickelson of Iron; children, Ronald Maickelson of Hibbing and Kathy (Ernest) Rice of Iron; grandchildren, Christopher (Julia) Palmquist of St. Paul, Kyrin and Jaden Rice of Hibbing; sisters, Bonnie Theisen of Menominee Mich., Mary Jo (Jan) Grabinski of Luck, Wis.; brothers, Richard Carpenter of Park Rapids and William (Kathy) Rowland of Sarona Wis.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lynda Palmquist; sisters, Ruth Lord Dicenzo, June Holk, and Ardith Putnam.
Memorial service: 11 a.m. Thursday, March 27 at Faith United Lutheran Church in Iron. Pastor Krehl Stringer will officiate.
Visitation: 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 26 and also one hour prior to the service.
