Condom seller says North Dakota buys the most big ones

FARGO – Oil production isn’t the only thing growing in North Dakota.
An online condom seller has named North Dakota king of the oversized condom, with a study showing the Roughrider State is No. 1 in the nation in buying larger-sized condoms.
Minnesotans may have a bone to pick with the latest Condomania.com study, which the website released Tuesday. Minnesota ranked a mere 39th.
Yet a similar study in 2010 by the prophylactic-selling website had North Dakota at 33rd and Minnesota at 28th.
Perhaps the two states need a rubber match.
Or perhaps the wide variance shows the highly unscientific nature of the
study. Condomania, which touts itself as “America’s first condom store,” said it forms its ranking based on sales data from each state, comparing the percentages of customers who bought small or large condoms with those who bought an average size.
Regardless, why would North Dakota come out on top? Maybe because it is largely rural, giving greater rise to the need to shop online to find condoms that aren’t standard-sized. South Dakota was ranked third in the study of sales data.
Then again, Rhode Island ranked second, the District of Columbia came in fourth and Massachusetts was fifth – all large urban centers.
Or it could be all the drilling going on out west that tips the numbers in North Dakota’s favor.
Minnesotans should swell with pride about at least one thing from this year’s study. They beat out Texas, which ranked two spots behind at 41st. Apparently, not everything is bigger in Texas.
