Coborn, Kanten spark Panthers' win at Greenway

Sam Coborn and Kyle Kanten scored two goals each and combined for four assists to rally the Park Rapids-Menahga-Walker-Hackensack-Akeley boys hockey team to a 6-4 win against Greenway at Coleraine Tuesday night.

Greenway jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first period before goals by Ian Johnson and Coborn made it 3-2 entering the final period. Johnson scored at the 8:06 mark while Coborn scored with 28 seconds remaining in the second period. Park Rapids held a 16-6 advantage in shots in that period.

Coborn and Frank Moren set up a power-play goal by Kanten as the Panthers tied the game at 3-3 at the 5:20 mark. Kanten assisted on a goal by Coborn at the 7:08 mark and scored what proved to be the game-winning goal at the 7:14 mark. Johnson and Coborn assisted on that goal. Coborn assisted on a shorthanded goal by Benson Ringle at the 10:08 mark to give the Panthers a 6-3 advantage.

Scott Smith made 19 saves as the Panthers held a 38-23 edge in shots on goal. The win lifted the Panthers to 1-1 on the season. Greenway fell to 0-4.
