Calling all chili chefs!
The Park Rapids Enterprise is hosting the fifth annual Chili Challenge as a kick-off for the Hubbard County Food Shelf food- and fundraising drive in March.
The Chili Challenge will be held over the noon hour Wednesday, March 12 at the Park Rapids American Legion.
Teams, individuals, businesses, civic organizations and church groups are invited to cook up a pot of chili, recruit samplers and
serve the concoction.
All proceeds from the event go toward the Hubbard County Food Shelf.
Food shelf coordinator Dave Long has reported that donations were down last year and this year the community needs to step up.
Chili samplers will donate a dollar per dollop (small cupful) of chili. Ballot box stuffing is welcome and encouraged.
Be creative. In previous years, chili chefs have come with clever names for their chili and themes.
Bob Landrigan has created another beautiful wood loon carving for a raffle drawing and the Crazy Quilters have donated an exquisite quilt, “A Good Catch,” by Barbara Coleman.
March is the month to put fundraising into overdrive. Donations received by food shelfs in March are the basis for funding for the entire year through Minnesota FoodShare.
For more information or to sign up as a chili chef contact Candy at 732-3364 or e-mail cparks@parkrapidsenterprise. com.
To make a donation to the Hubbard County Food Shelf via the Chili Challenge, send checks made payable to the Hubbard County Food Shelf to the Park Rapids Enterprise, P.O. Box 111, Park Rapids, MN 56470.
Or arrive from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 12 at the Legion to partake in the festivities.
