‘Charlie Brown’ to be staged at Armory
Spend time with some of your unforgettable childhood friends – Lucy, Linus, Schroeder, Sally, Snoopy, and, of course, Charlie Brown – when the Northern Light Opera Company presents “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.”
The cast has begun rehearsing in Armory Square in downtown Park Rapids with Greg Paul directing, Jason Wright as music director.
Cast includes Libby Sorenson as Lucy, Faith Kern as Sally, Hawken Paul as Charlie, Brandon Haller as Snoopy, Lewis Johnson as Linus, Joe Bolling as Schroeder, Jimmy Farmer as Pigpen, Coral Johnson as Frieda and Finn Paul as Rerun.
Show times are 7:30 p.m. for the July 12, 13, 18 and 19 performances and 3 p.m. July 14 and 20 at Park Rapids Armory Square.
The book, music and lyrics by Clark Gesner, based on the beloved comic strip Peanuts by Charles Schulz, is a fun musical comedy that will have audiences laughing out loud. Though considered a “good man” by his friends, Charlie Brown can’t seem to win the heart of the Little Red-Haired Girl, nor his friend Lucy, her crush, the piano-playing Schroeder.
Meanwhile Snoopy and Linus daydream and the rest of the friends battle with kites, school, baseball and misunderstandings before finally coming to realize what makes them truly happy.
This award-winning 1967 musical features memorable songs such as “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” “My Blanket and Me” and “The Doctor Is In (Dr. Lucy).”
