Charges filed against Ogema man after attack with butcher knife
Charges have been filed against an Ogema man in Becker County District Court after he allegedly attacked a female victim with a large butcher knife.
James Leroy Libby Jr., 36, of 33962 Mary Yellowhead Rd., Ogema, has been charged with one felony count of second degree assault-dangerous weapon, in connection with the Jan. 1 incident at his residence.
According to the complaint, Libby and the woman had been at a New Year's Eve party, which she asked to leave early. As he was accompanying her home, he allegedly ran up behind her, kicked her feet out from under her and forced her face down into the snow, pouring alcohol down her back.
Libby then allegedly carried her into the residence, at which time he reportedly knocked into a bathtub and proceeded to kick her in the head and torso multiple times. At one point, he allegedly grabbed a knife and threatened to kill them both, cutting his wrists and stabbing the woman in the back of her neck.
