This year's Fine Arts Night in Menahga will feature the "Empty Bowls Project," dedicated to feeding people in some way.

Menahga National Honor Society students have teamed up with the art department to make 100 ceramic bowls and sell each for $10 at Fine Arts Night. All proceeds will be donated to the Menahga Food Shelf.

Fine Arts Night will begin at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 26 at Menahga School. The halls will display a variety of artwork, from abstract kindergarten drawings to mature high school art.

Teachers say this year's theme is inspired by the fact that there are always empty bowls that need filling.

Guests can purchase a bowl to take home as a souvenir while enjoying a meal of soup and a slice of bread at the event. The meal replicates a soup kitchen meal.

There will only be 100 bowls available for purchase, so organizers

developed a first-com first-serve sign up list. Reservations for bowls are required by Friday, March 20, so those who purchase a bowl don't have to attend the event but are still able to make contributions.

Art teacher Dawn Rossbach said she hopes the event will help out the Menahga Food Shelf, one local organization currently suffering from the dismal economy.
