CATHERINE 'CATHY' BERDAHL

Catherine "Cathy" Ber-dahl, 88, of Nevis, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2013 at her home.

She was born Nov. 23, 1924 to George and Mamie Carriger in Phoenix City, Ala. and grew up in Pensacola, Fla.

She met Robert M. Berdahl in the spring of 1942, while he was training to become a Naval Aviation pilot. They married on Feb. 12, 1943. They were blessed with two sons, Robert Jr. and Michael and were stationed in various U.S. Navy Bases.

In 1949, after his Naval discharge, they moved to Minnesota, living in Edina until 1982. Cathy was a homemaker for seven years, worked for Red Owl Stores for 10 years and retired from First Edina National Bank after 16 years of employment.

In 1982, they moved to their lake home on 3rd Crow Wing Lake. She was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church of Nevis, Ester Circle and the Pine Tree Homemakers.

Cathy enjoyed her life on the lake, her family and friends, cooking and gardening.

She is survived by her two sons, Robert (Mary) Berdahl of Park Rapids and Michael (Sheryl) Berdahl of Eden Prairie; sisters-in-law, Lois Smith of Montivideo, and Eleanor Berdahl of Princeton; brother-in-law, Col. Ed Larsen of Atlanta, Ga.; granddaughter, Laura Leonard (Luke); four grandsons, Michael (Ann), David, Chris, Steven; six great-grandsons; three great- granddaughters and 20 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; parents; two sisters, Mary and Lillian; two brothers, George and Harvey; and infant twins, a daughter and a son.

Funeral service: 11 a.m. Friday, June 7 at Bethany Lutheran Church in Nevis. Pastor Darrell Morton will be the officiant.

Visitation: 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the church on Friday.

Interment: Lakeview Cemetery at Nevis.
