Jasmine McGillivray hit four 3-pointers and scored 18 of her game-high 22 points in the first half as the Staples-Motley girls basketball team rolled to an 87-34 Mid-State Conference victory over Park Rapids Tuesday night at the Area High School gym.

McGillivray opened the game with a 3-pointer and layup as the Cardinals jumped out to a 5-0 lead before a jumper by Bria Wolff and layups by Megan Grimes and Wolff gave Park Rapids a 6-5 lead with 14:08 to play in the first half.

The Cardinals responded with a 15-0 run as five different players scored inside and McGillivray hit a 3-pointer to give Staples-Motley a 20-6 lead at the 9:21 mark.

A layup by Gabie Johnson ended that run with 9:08 to play, but 3-pointers by McGillivray and Mackenzie Holst sparked a 10-0 run that gave the Cardinals a 30-8 cushion.

After a jumper by Charity Ridlon at the 6:31 mark, the Cardinals closed the half with a 19-3 run as Mc-Gillivray scored inside and hit another 3-pointer. Katie Klein had a 3-pointer for the Panthers during that stretch as Staples-Motley built a 49-13 lead at the break.

Kelly Pearson scored 12 of her 18 points after the break as the Cardinals coasted. Ridlon (7) and Tori Lauderbaugh (5) combined for 12 points for the Panthers in the second half.
