Bull ride to showcase additional entertainment
Professional skydiver Bobby Reid will entertain each night at the Professional Bull Riders Challenger Tour July 2-4 in Park Rapids.
During the National Anthem, Reid will jump off a plane and free fall for about 10 seconds before releasing a red, white and blue parachute, along with a huge American flag.
The bull ride starts at 6:30 p.m. each night and features 40 bull rides each night. Several winners from previous years will be at this year's event, including 2008 winner Ned Cross, of Midland, Ore.; 2007 winner Casey Stirling, of Rapid City, S.D., 2006 winner Matt Pojonowski, of Woodbury; and 2005 winner Willi Strosclair, of Tibideaux, La.
As the bull ride's producer, Randy Jokela has the opportunity to include a couple amateur riders as open entries. This year, he picked Curtis Tolle, of Park Rapids and Terry Pickar, of Backus to ride.
The professional bull riders come from 24 states, Canada, Brazil and Mexico.
