The 36th annual Professional Bull Riders event Thursday did not disappoint the hundreds of fans who cheered for their favorite cowboy – or mutton buster, at right. Drizzle that started around 9 p.m. and worked its way into a full-fledged rain didn’t discourage the crowds. Cowboys quickly learned that eight seconds is a lifetime on an angry bull and few made the cut. The event was moved from the July 4th weekend but that didn’t seem to matter. The crowds turned out in large force. Top riders from the area and from all over the United States came to the Jokela ProWest  Production in Park Rapids. More shows are planned for Friday and Saturday night with nightly concerts. A dozen kids rode sheep in the arena, with this youngster riding all the way across to a rousing applause. Get tickets to the bull ride or concert at www.parkrapidsbullride.com.
