Breaking ground on All Veterans education museum
The All Veterans Memorial Committee is extending an invitation to all for the Interpretive and Educational Center and Museum official groundbreaking.
The ceremony will begin at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, May 7 at the site on Highway 71 south, next to the Park Rapids Lakes Area Chamber.
"It's taken 15 years to get to this point," president William Ryther reflected of the second phase of the memorial site.
The 2,300-square-foot building will hold information on all the U.S. wars, he said. Stories from men and women who've served in the military will be shared. Cost of the structure is an estimated $250,000, with $60,000 raised to date.
Blue prints will be available for review.
