The Menahga fastpitch softball team opened the season by splitting a Park Region Conference doubleheader at Pillager Tuesday.
Megan Miller's two-run double in the eighth inning lifted the Braves to a 5-2 win in the opener.
Pillager rebounded to salvage a split with an 8-5 victory in the second game.
In the opener, a walk to Katie Miller and a single by Megan Miller led to a run in the first and a walk to Jada Melton and singles by Katie Miller and Megan Miller led to another run in the second.
Pillager scored twice in the sixth to force extra innings before the Braves prevailed in the eighth on a walk to Emily Skoog and doubles by Lindsey White and Megan Miller.
Megan Miller went 3 for 5 and White went 2 for 3 to account for the majority of Menahga's six hits. White allowed two unearned runs on six hits with seven strikeouts for the win.
Pillager scored three times in both the first and third innings in the second game for the split.
Katie Miller lined a two-run single in the second inning, Amelia Pho singled and scored in the third, and Melton and Katie Miller scored in the sixth.
Singles by Tarah Cleveland, White, Megan Miller, Haley Hotakainen, Skoog and Christina Butler completed Menahga's eight-hit attack. Hotakainen took the loss, allowing seven hits and five walks while striking out three in seven innings.
