Braves end three-game losing streak

     Austin Rudquist scored 18 points in helping the Menahga boys basketball team snap a three-game losing streak with a 55-52 Park Region Conference win over Pillager Thursday night at Menahga.

     Prior to that win, the Braves dropped road games to Verndale 73-52 on Dec. 6 and Staples-Motley 68-56 on Dec. 9 before falling at home to Long Prairie-Grey Eagle 55-53 on Dec. 10.

     Menahga is 2-1 in the conference and 3-4 overall.

Braves defeat Pillager in PRC play

     Austen Schwartz added 13 points, Levi Schwartz had 11 points and five steals, and Aaron Hrdlicka had seven rebounds for the Braves in the win over Pillager.

     Conner Uselman scored 21 points to lead the Huskies, who fell to 0-3 in the conference and 0-4 overall.

Pirates defeat Braves in PRC play

     Eric Blaha scored 21 points in leading Verndale past Menahga.

     Marcos Gomez (16) and Mitchell Blaha (10) also hit double figures for the Pirates, who improved to 3-1 on the season.

     Rudquist’s 13 points and seven rebounds and Austen Schwartz’s 10 points and four steals led the Braves. Aaron Hrdlicka also hit double figures with 10 points as Menahga turned the ball over 28 times.

Cardinals defeat Braves

     Jalen Busker scored 14 points in leading Staples-Motley past the Braves.

     Tyler Holub’s 13 points, Colton Paskewitz’s 11 points and John Lund’s 10 rebounds helped the Cardinals improve to 1-2 on the season.

     Austen Schwartz scored 27 points while Levi Schwartz had a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Braves.

     Long Prairie-Grey Eagle handed the Braves their first loss at home.

     Rudquist’s 23 points and seven rebounds and Austen Schwartz’s 22 points and four assists led the Braves against LP-GE, which improved to 2-2.

     Levi Schwartz led the Braves with six steals while hauling down five rebounds.
