Boy struck crossing Bemidji street

A 6-year-old Bemidji boy was struck by a vehicle at 5:44 p.m. Tuesday while crossing Irvine Avenue North.

According to a report from the Bemidji Police Department:

Audra Allen, age and address not listed, was driving a 1998 Toyota Camry north on Irvine when she noticed the boy. Allen slowed down, thinking the child might try to cross the street.

The boy landed in the southbound lane of Irvine.

Witnesses told police that Allen tried to avoid hitting the boy.

A family member told police that the boy usually crosses the street with an older brother.

The boy was treated and released at North Country Regional Hospital.
