Boat parades are lake staples

Merry bands of sailors will set sail Independence Day on area lakes. It has become an annual tradition for many in the area.

Long Lake

The annual Long Lake Independence Day flotilla will be launched Thursday, July 4th.  

Just for the fun of it, decorate your boats and meet at 9:50 a.m. in front of the New Frontier Resort on the west side of the lake.  

Sailors will depart at 10 a.m. in two groups, one north and one south.  Show your patriotic spirit!

Emma, Stocking, Bottle

Emma, Stocking and Bottle lakes’ patriotic pontoon and boat parade will meet in Schneeman’s bay on Lower Bottle Lake at 10 a.m. July 4.

Decorate your watercraft or your dock in a patriotic theme if you like.

The Schneeman family will be offering coffee and banana bread to any boat that floats to the end of their dock.

Join the flotilla and slowly cruise around Upper and Lower Bottle Lakes.

Anyone from Lake Emma or Stocking Lake who would like to be part of the flotilla can call Cathy Jones at 732-1685 to ride along on someone else’s watercraft.

Little Sand Lake

Little Sand Lake residents will launch their annual 4th of July boat parade at 10 a.m. starting at Zorbaz.

Fish Hook Lake, River

Fish Hook Lake and River Association will hold its annual 4th of July flotilla at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 4. 

Meet in front of the Rezac-Andersen home.  Come and join the fun.

Big Sand Lake

Participants in Big Sand Lake’s 4th of July annual parade should meet at the inlet at 11 a.m. with a decorated boat or pontoon.  

Two Inlets Lake

Two Inlets’ Independence Day boat parade will set sail at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 4.

Meet at the boat landing.

Straight Lake

The Osage Environmental Association will sponsor their annual Independence Day Straight Lake boat parade and community picnic at 10 a.m. Thursday July 4th.  

All participants in the boat parade should gather at the head of the narrows (north end) of Straight Lake by 10 a.m.  

Following the parade around the lake there will

be a picnic lunch at Lion’s Park.  Bring a dish to share and your own dishes and utensils.  Hamburgers, brats and beverages will be provided.

8th, 9th Crow Wings

The 8th & 9th Crow Wing Lake Association will be hosting the annual July 4th boat parade on 8th Crow Wing Lake Thursday, July 4th.

Lineup time is at 12:30 p.m. in front of In-We-Go Resort and the parade will start at 1 p.m. Prizes will be awarded for the top three boat floats.

“Get your sparklers out and join us for some summer fun.”

Stony Lake

Stony Lake’s 4th of July

flotilla will set sail at 1 p.m. Independence Day from the public landing on west end of lake.
